Considering as a source of study Revista Brasília, a periodical in circulation in Brazil between the years 1957 and 1988, whose creation proposed convincing public opinion about the importance of transferring the capital of Brazil, in the Brazilian southeast, to the interior of the country - region mid-west, the use of this periodical in this research articulates a look at the possible social representations presented by this publication in relation to childhood and schooling disclosed in its pages in the historical period between 1957 and 1967. The investigation of these objects takes place in very specific times : before the inauguration of Brasília (1957-1960) and after its institutionalization as the capital of Brazil (1960- 1967). To this end, the orientation chosen for understanding social representations finds support in Roger Chartier. Chartier (1990) considers that conflicts due to representation are as expressive and real as those related to economic issues, however, these, due to representations, tend to occur in a symbolic way, as we suppose to manifest in the pages of Revista Brasília. The research methodology applied here is found in the documentary analysis of texts and images, related to the objects childhood and schooling, located in Revista Brasília, as well as in their indicatives. In this sense, just like the texts, the photographic resources, within Revista Brasília, are elements explored and considered as traces of a recent history, which in the scope of representations visualized by Chartier, joins the willingness of the historiography of education to examine the plus diverse resources as subsidies that bring us closer to events that once happened. With an eye on the details of Revista Brasília, its iconography, the childhood and schooling presented in it, we propose to investigate and analyze the indications of representation of this childhood and schooling that made up the publications of this form throughout the established historical path, with the hypothesis that Revista Brasília establishes, in its pages, a pre-established look at childhood and schooling at the time, in order to transpose this vision to lovers and consumers of the printed matter.
