From Crossing to Encounter: Working with Literature from an Anti-Racist Perspective in the Initial Literacy Block
Anti-racist education; children's literature; didactic experiences; reader development.
Reflections on the anti-racist theme are urgent and need to be present in various sectors of our society, especially in schools, a space favorable to dialogue and ethical commitment. In this context, the present research aims to bring to the debate the work with this statement, and for that, our objective is to analyze didactic experiences of teachers who work in the Initial Literacy Block. Additionally, we seek to understand the strategies and possibilities of actions from this perspective, through children's literature and how it can be an ally in addressing the theme. Our theoretical framework includes Brandão, Leal, and Nascimento (2013), Colomer (2007/2003/2017), Lerner (2007), Zilberman (2003), Zilberman and Lajolo (2022), Candido (2004), Deus (2020), Silva (2022), Boaventura (2019), Munanga (2019), Almeida (2019), Cavalheiro (2010), Hall (2006/2019), Gomes (2010), among others. Methodologically, this is a qualitative research with an exploratory purpose, using questionnaires, participant observation, and field notes as data generation techniques, in a school under the State Department of Education of the Federal District. The interpretation of the data and consequently its analysis will enable, among other considerations, the identification of the need for a generous perspective from the school, also towards its teachers, offering formative situations with the mentioned literature, encouraging these professionals to become competent readers, reading, and inviting students to this literary encounter, which is so fundamental for us to humanize ourselves through narratives that touch us.
