The Use of Food as a Pedagogical Tool to Develop Meaningful Learning
Meaningful Learning; Project Based Learning; Food in education; Contextualization
The official documents that guide the organization of fundamental education provide for its organization in areas of knowledge, which seek to favor communication between the different types of knowledge of the curricular components, with the aim of stimulating meaningful learning. However, such a proposal has presented as a challenge the overcoming of a historically strengthened educational model, in which professors work in isolation in their disciplines, making it difficult to articulate knowledge and approach students' reality. Added to this is the students' difficulty in understanding the subjects covered in the disciplines, resulting from the gap between theory and practice in the classroom. Therefore, the proposed study aims to develop classes that allow working knowledge in an integrated and contextualized way in the disciplines, using food as a generating theme to favor meaningful learning. The proposed research will resort to a qualitative approach, presenting as main references: Braga (2004), Alves (2014) Lauand and Chasseraux (2012), Cascudo (1983), Carneiro (2003), Flandrin and Montanari (2020), Moreira (1999, 2011) and Ausubel et al (1980). As a potential technical product, it is intended to propose a project entitled Experimentação Gastronómica, with students from the 6th year of Elementary School at a school in Brasília, so that the teaching-learning process develops in a dynamic, tasty, challenging and fun way, considering students' life experiences and favoring meaningful learning
