SUMMARY:

This research project aimed to analyze, through a qualitative field study, the potential contribution of Specialized Educational Support (SES), in the regular teaching of basic education, to the academic learning of a group of students identified with behaviors indicative of Giftedness, who receive support in resource rooms for Giftedness. The goal was to understand the dynamics of this support and its practices, with the intention of promoting the importance of specialized assistance for students with Giftedness as a pedagogical tool that contributes to successful school learning within regular education. The information gathered in this research was illustrated in an e-book, which presented possible teaching practices focused on the support of students with Giftedness, through adequate interventions, enabling their inclusion in regular classrooms. The findings revealed that SES for Giftedness positively influenced academic performance in regular education, as well as the socioemotional aspects of these students. It was concluded that the inclusion of students with Giftedness in regular education is as important as the SES itself. The referral to resource rooms and the provision of appropriate activities within regular education schools constitute a comprehensive framework of specialized support for this population.
