SUMMARY:

In the brazilian educational context, where historical inequalities between women and men, black and white individuals continue to permeate pedagogical practices, it becomes essential to reflect on the school as a space for transformation. In this regard, this research recognizes the importance of addressing gender issues, grounded in a decolonial and intersectional perspective, from Early Childhood Education onward. The goal is to consider the intentionality of teaching practices aimed at deconstructing stereotypes and fostering diverse forms of children's expression. Given this framework, the general objective of the research was to understand how gender issues are conceived and addressed within the pedagogical coordination of a kindergarten in the Federal District. Drawing on the discussions presented by Louro (2003), Scott (1995), hooks (2018), and Lugones (2008; 2019), the study adopted a gender perspective in dialogue with contributions from the Sociology of Childhood. This qualitative study was supported by the praxeological research methodology (Formosinho, 2016) and employed the following research tools: document analysis, participant observation, and semi-structured interviews. Additionally, two workshops were organized and conducted with the teachers of the kindergarten under study, aligning with the chosen methodology's principles. As part of this research, a technical contribution was developed in the form of an e-book, fulfilling the final product requirement of the Professional Master's Program in Education at the University of Brasília. The e-book aimed to offer accessible and welcoming material, while also supporting and strengthening discussions on this topic within Early Childhood Education institutions. The main findings of the research indicate that pedagogical coordination, when situated in a contexto of listening and exchange among peers and combined with specific training on gender issues, can drive concrete changes in Early Childhood Education teachers’ practices.
