SPECIAL EDUCATION CENTERS IN THE FEDERAL DISTRICT IN THE CONTEXT OF THE CURRICULUM
Keywords: Specialized school. Special Education Center. Curriculum.
This study aims to analyze the constitution of curricula in Special Education Centers (CEE) of the Federal District (DF). In recent decades, with the expansion of special and inclusive education in regular schools, the continued presence of individuals with disabilities in specialized schools has raised doubts about the practice of special education in these schools and what is intended to be taught for the education of these individuals. In this context, the research emerges from the need to understand the pedagogical work carried out in CEEs of the DF, considering the curricular adaptations and the challenges associated with the teaching and learning process. Thus, this research raises the following problematization: How has the curriculum been constituted in Special Education Centers of the DF? Thus, the general objective of the research is to understand how the curriculum has been constituted in Special Education Centers of the DF. Aiming to understand this theme, a brief literary review on Special Education and an overview of Special Education in the State Secretariat of Education of the Federal District (SEEDF) will be presented, based on its official guiding documents in force in the year 2024.We will also seek to understand how the CEE constitutes one of the possibilities for offering special education to people with ID, MUD and/or ASD in the context of SEEDF. We also seek to understand the concepts of school curriculum, curricular adequacy and Functional Curriculum in the context of special education in the Federal District. In addition, we seek to identify, in the official documents of SEEDF, the curricular proposal of the CEEs and the curricular concepts adopted in the CEEs of the Federal District and to verify the relationships between the Functional Curriculum and the Curriculum in Movement of SEEDF, in the curricular proposal of the CEEs of the Federal District. The theoretical framework deals with the field of Cultural Studies, more specifically in the line of Foucaultian studies in education, based on the analytical tools of normalization, in/exclusion and social control, in addition to the theoretical support of scholars who discuss the curriculum. The adopted methodology includes documentary and bibliographic research with a qualitative approach, focusing on the analysis of official district and federal documents. As a technical product, a proposal for continuing education for teachers and managers of CEEs is suggested, focusing on a critical analysis of the curriculum practiced in CEEs in the Federal District, so that these professionals can reflect on the curriculum and school organization that occurs in this environment and can expand their pedagogical skills.
