Between the uniqueness and visibility of children from rural areas in a rural early childhood education institution in the Federal District
Rural children; Early Childhood Education; Social Studies of Childhood; Federal District.
The general objective of this study is to understand how a rural Early Childhood Education institution takes into account, or does not take into account, the singularities of children living in rural areas, considering the service and pedagogical organization. We propose three categories of analysis. In the first, we investigate the changes in the service profile for rural children from 2014 to 2023, considering the use of school transportation and the offer of places to the urban public. In the second category, we investigate the visibility of rural children and rural Early Childhood Education in the educational institution's Political-Pedagogical Project (PPP), by analyzing its publications from 2019 to 2023, analyzing how rural children are considered in its scope. In the third and final category, we address the organization of pedagogical work in practice and its relations with the singularity of rural children, seeking to understand teaching practices and the perspective of responsible adults in the institution regarding the singularities of the children present there and possible adult-centered impediments. The methodology applied includes the approach through participant observation, with the aid of tools such as field diaries, photographic records, interviews and questionnaires for the adults responsible for the children in the institution. Finally, as a proposal for a final product, a requirement of the Postgraduate Program in Education (PPGEMP) of the University of Brasília (UnB), we will propose a course on the preparation of the Inventory of Reality from the perspective of continuing education for managers and teachers of rural educational institutions, with contributions from the Sociology of Childhood.
