DIGITAL LITERACY AND TEACHER EDUCATION: effects of NTE-Samambaia training courses on the pedagogical practices of basic education teachers
Education. Digital Literacy. Teacher Training. Digital Information and Communication Technologies (DICT). Educational Technology Center (NTE).
This research aims to analyze the effects of digital literacy promoted by the Educational Technology Center (Núcleo de Tecnologia Educacional – NTE) of Samambaia on the conceptions and pedagogical practices of participating teachers regarding the use of Digital Information and Communication Technologies (DICT) in the classroom. It is a qualitative study grounded in the case study as a methodological strategy. The study seeks to understand how teachers construct and apply the digital literacy developed through NTE-Samambaia training programs and to what extent schools under the Samambaia Regional Education Coordination provide structural conditions for its implementation. The justification for this research lies in the need to analyze the role of the training programs offered by NTE-Samambaia in transforming pedagogical practices, searching for evidence of their effectiveness in teachers’ professional development and in improving student learning. Data collection was carried out through document analysis, online forms, semi-structured interviews, and a focus group, all applied to teachers who participated in training programs promoted by NTE-Samambaia between 2022 and 2024. The results indicate that digital literacy contributes to expanding and improving the pedagogical use of DICT, although structural and training challenges for its consolidation in public schools still persist. As a result of these findings, the technical product developed is the creation of the Digital Community for Training and Pedagogical Practices with DICT (Conecta- NTE)—a collaborative WhatsApp space designed for public-school teachers in Samambaia, aiming to strengthen teacher protagonism, foster the exchange of experiences, and sustain the continuity of training actions mediated by digital technologies. The study reaffirms the role of NTE-Samambaia as a space for continuing education and the construction of teachers’ digital literacy, contributing to a more innovative public education system
