SUMMARY:

This dissertation investigated alumni perceptions regarding the academic training provided by the Graduate Program in Comparative Studies on the Americas (PPGECsA) at the University of Brasília, aiming to support its self-evaluation process. The central problem was to understand how graduates perceive the training received and how these perceptions can guide the program's internal evaluation. The general objective was to identify these perceptions to provide a foundation for PPGECsA’s self-evaluation. A predominantly qualitative methodological approach was adopted, being applied, descriptive, and exploratory in nature, based on Mayring’s (2002) content analysis. Data collection combined bibliographic and documentary research on National Graduate Plans (PNPGs), a profile survey of 131 graduates who earned their degrees between 2017 and 2024 (using institutional systems such as SIGAA, Sucupira, and Lattes), an online questionnaire applied to 24 alumni, and semi-structured interviews. Quantitative data were processed through descriptive statistics, while qualitative data were analyzed through thematic categorization. Quantitative results outlined the alumni profile, revealing a female predominance, strong professional placement in the public and academic sectors, and a diverse international presence. Qualitative results, organized into eight analytical categories, highlighted the program's strengths, such as faculty excellence, the comparative and interdisciplinary approach, and efficient administrative support. Simultaneously, critical structural weaknesses were identified, especially regarding physical infrastructure, the advisor-advisee relationship, academic climate, student integration, support for internationalization, and articulation with the nonacademic labor market. It was concluded that alumni perceptions constitute a strategic and valid source of information for self-evaluation, allowing for a multidimensional diagnosis that transcends quantitative indicators. The study demonstrated the feasibility and necessity of institutionalizing alumni feedback as a central pillar for the program's planning and continuous qualification, aligning it with the social responsibility guidelines of Brazilian graduate education. As a technical product, the research generated a Technical Note with recommendations for strengthening the institutional bond with alumni.
