This research explores how Revista Manchete, a widely circulated magazine aimed at the public, contributed to the consolidation of architect Oscar Niemeyer's image and the dissemination of his architecture on both national and international stages. The thesis investigates the relationship between architecture, media, and society throughout Niemeyer's career, emphasizing Manchete's role as a cultural dissemination vehicle. The magazine documented Niemeyer's works and presented them in an accessible, direct, and clear manner, linking them to innovation, boldness, and audacity within the context of the time and in relation to political, social, and cultural issues. The methodology employed organizes this material into thematic categories based on the works published in the magazine's editions. This approach allows for an analysis of the construction of Niemeyer’s public narrative and its impact on architectural historiography. Based on Manchete's digitized archive available in the Brazilian Digital Hemeroteca, the research gathers records related to Niemeyer, including interviews, reports, and images that depict his work, personal life, and cultural impact. By unveiling different perspectives on Niemeyer, the thesis offers a reinterpretation of Manchete's publications and their intersection between architecture and communication, demonstrating how magazines played a crucial role in legitimizing and disseminating Niemeyer’s work and career.
