STRUCTURAL RELEVANCE FACTOR AS A CRITERION IN THE DECISION MAKING OF THE PUBLIC MANAGER FOR INTERVENTIONS IN THE BRIDGES CONTEMPLATED BY THE PROGRAM FOR MAINTENANCE AND REHABILITATION OF STRUCTURES-PROARTE
Bridges (systems). Corrosion. Intervention in structures.
Bridges are of fundamental importance for the development of society. A bridge management system, as an auxiliary organizational and decision-making system, consists of a set of interrelated activities aimed at recording and analyzing all information that can contribute to reducing the total cost of bridge management, considering all aspects involved, from planning, execution and maintenance to the existing complications. The paper presents the contextualization of the problem, with a historical retrospective and general considerations on the main concerns embedded in the design of a bridge management system and how they are considered in some countries around the world. Information is presented on the condition of bridges on federal highways in Brazil and Maranhão, based on data obtained from DNIT – the National Department of Transportation Infrastructure, which is responsible for federal highways in the state. This data is a registry with levels of information ranging from location and dimensions in plan to the existence of inspection results, sketches, photos, geographic coordinates and other sources. The analysis of this data provides greater knowledge about the reality of bridges on federal highways in the state, provides support for planning a bridge management system that is more compatible with this reality and leads to an understanding of the main aspects that guide assessments of the condition of bridges, based on criteria that consider the effects of vehicles, cracking, corrosion of reinforcement and fatigue on the resistance capacity of concrete and reinforcement.Bridges are of fundamental importance for the development of society.
