SUMMARY:

This research investigates the accessibility conditions for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in school environments, focusing on two public institutions under the Secretariat of Education of the Federal District (SEDF), Brazil. The study addresses architectural, pedagogical, and regulatory aspects related to school inclusion, based on the Brazilian Accessibility Standard (NBR 9050/2020) and other relevant legal frameworks. Through technical visits, interviews, and document analysis, the research identified weaknesses in both physical infrastructure and educational practices aimed at meeting the specific needs of these students. The findings reveal that the lack of adequate architectural adaptations and inclusive teaching strategies hinders equity in the teaching-learning process. In this context, the study highlights the urgency of structural and pedagogical interventions that foster sensory-friendly, safe, and stimulating environments, promoting the well-being and holistic development of children with ASD. The results reinforce the crucial role of accessibility as a guiding principle for inclusive, democratic, and high-quality basic education, grounded in respect for diversity and the uniqueness of each student.
