SUMMARY:

The current research project focuses on the architectural heritage of the Goiás territory. It aims to elucidate the constructive transformations that have occurred in buildings that exemplify the stylistic evolution of Eclecticism. This endeavor contributes to the preservation of the built heritage of Goiás while simultaneously safeguarding the heritage of vernacular activities, both in terms of constructed structures and the tangible evidence that remains within the urban fabric. Consequently, the styles of vernacular architecture and eclecticism compete for the viewer's attention, identifying architectural references in the urban landscape from the 18th century to the early decades of the 20th century. In some instances, these structures are situated along irregular streets that originated from a mining urbanism. In other instances, they are already under construction in accordance with new urban concepts. In instances where edifices have been constructed through alternative techniques and utilizing disparate construction materials, photographic images are captured within an immersive experience, situated within the context of the prevailing iconosphere. This process serves to reveal aspects of the past. In order to facilitate a process of historiographical conceptualization regarding the constructive influences between the architectural styles found in the cities travelled, the relevant bibliography is associated with a cut-out of space and time. From a methodological standpoint, the "photographic act" (Dubois, 2004) serves to augment investigative procedures through the utilization of an iconography generated during the "exploratory walks" (Careri, 2013). This approach allows for the construction of understandings by considering walking as an aesthetic practice (Tiberghien, 2013), with the help of "netnographic" resources (Kozinets, 2004; Silva, 2015), and by consulting different data providers. The process of mediation (Bezerra and Barros, 2015) is facilitated by engaging with the spaces traversed through the visual sources consulted. This enables an examination of the transformations identified in the buildings, the ways of living, and the constructive expressions within the Goiás territory.
