SUMMARY:

The present work consists of the reconstitution of the historical process of the Marti‑Holderegger House, built in Curitiba in 1936. The house is an example of traditional Brazilian popular architecture made of wooden boards arranged vertically. With the disappearance of examples of this architecture, it is essential that the remaining works be studied and documented. For architecture, the importance of these studies and documentation is grounded in two aspects relevant to the present day, which also touch on urban sustainability: the recovery of traditional construction techniques and the encouragement of the continued use of already existing buildings. The research gathered, classified, and systematized information about the chronology of the Marti‑Holderegger House based on the paradigm of Architectural Archaeology, applied here as a pilot project, since this approach is rarely used in wooden buildings. Initially, a bibliographic review made it possible to outline the methodological procedure appropriate for this application. Next, a historical study of the city, the neighborhood, and complementary sources—documents, drawings, photographs, and testimonies—provided the necessary context for the investigation. Finally, the house, which was the main source of information, was closely examined, with manual sketches and surveyed with the aid of laser‑scanning tools. The results of the research include the production of a complete three‑dimensional model of the building using BIM tools, and the presentation of the results through a graphic representation standard for archaeological data to expose the investigation of a recent example of wooden‑board architecture dating from the first half of the twentieth century.
